Claudia Varela defended her thesis on May 2nd 2022. Her thesis “Device-enabled Biomechanical Modulation of the Infarcted Heart” applying new technology to modulate cardiac mechanics in preclinical models. She led this work and spearheaded and maintained fruitful collaborations with Prof. Xuanhe Zhao, Dr. Hyunwoo Yuk, Prof. Robert Padera and Prof. Garry Duffy. Claudia will do a postdoctoral fellowship in the lab, before pursuing her next postdoctoral fellowship and applying for faculty jobs. She will be in high demand!
